Welcome, Spring, I’ve Been Waiting for You!

by Suzanne on March 13, 2013

This morning I caught a glimpse of red haze high above the ground as I passed a mirror suspended opposite a window.

Spring Scene - 350x467 - credit meImmediately I turned to see what caught my attention.  There at the ends of each branch of a huge old maple tree, were red buds swelling and ready to unfurl the green glory of their budding leaves.

Hooray!  Spring is here with all its promise of new beginnings.  Time to complete the winter projects that have kept me tied to my desk for months.  I’m ready to move, to dance, to create… to start a new project and finish it before the heat of summer lays its blanket across our shoulders.

This is my favorite time of the year.  Last week there were a dozen jonquils raising their golden heads on a hillside outside town.  I wanted to stop and sit beside them.   To look at the world as they must each spring.  Do they see a fresh new world?  Or do they see that their mission is to beautify the old world?  Maybe they make their plans in the dead of winter to leap from the cold soil one sunny day, and bring joy and hope to all who see them.

That’s what I’d like to think.  That the budding trees and vibrant blooms concoct a great plan for refreshing and cleansing our spirits of the grayness and coldness of winter.  That it’s all for our benefit, whether we pay attention or not.

And you know what?  It is.

Happy Spring!
