Find Your Peaceful Place

by Suzanne on December 12, 2012

This time of year, I often find myself retreating to a peaceful place.  The constant hurry-scurry, the crazy drivers dueling for the last parking spot, the miles-long traffic jam of shoppers determined to make a left turn into the shopping center.  This chaos in what is supposed to be a time of peaceful expectation scours at my senses and bruises my soul.

So I retreat.  I retreat from the obligations, the bustle, and the noise… into a place of quiet contemplation.  There, deep in my mind, I breathe and rest in the moment of connection to the real reason we celebrate this time of year.  The anniversary of Peace incarnate.

It doesn’t take an entire day, or even an afternoon, to reestablish an awareness of the love and peace that shelters and nourishes us, even in the midst of the daily tangle of tasks and errands.  Five minutes away from whatever troubles your soul can create a new mindset for the rest of your day.  And the more often we retreat into that awareness, the easier it is to remain centered when dealing with everyone around us.

Where do you find your peaceful place?  When do you most often find yourself in need of visiting that place?
